PAC Chairman visits CAG Office

A meeting on ?Audit Process of the Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh? was held at the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh on 23 April 2015. Dr. Mahiuddin Khan Alamgir MP, Honorable Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Bangladesh Parliament attended the meeting as chief guest. He exchanged his valuable opinion with the CAG and other Senior Officials and emphasized on increasing the quality of audit. During the meeting, a presentation was given by Mrs. Zeenat Khan, Director General, Mission Audit Directorate and Dr. Shyamal Kanti Chowdhury, Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General (A&R). In his speech, PAC Chairman stressed upon that Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh (OCAG) acts as a deterrent of inefficient use of public money. He also emphasized on increasing the area of Performance Audit and ensured that Public Accounts Committee will help intensively to perform Value for money Audit in all respect. In reply to a question regarding restructuring of Audit and Accounts Department to ensure quality audit work, he showed his positive attitude but stressed upon the maximum utilization of resources. In the concluding speech, Mr. Masud Ahmed, Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh mentioned that OCAG needs to have financial independence along with independence in recruiting audit personnel. He also emphasized that manpower rationalization in terms of increasing public expenditure is a bare requirement for implementing International Auditing Standards and best practices.
