Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh Mr. Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury submitted 39 Audit & Accounts reports to the Honorable President Mr. Md. Abdul Hamid on 11 September 2019 at Bangabhaban. During the submission the honorable President urged upon all custodian of public money to be cautious about financial irregularities and to play such a vigilant role so that least audit observations may be raised. Honorable President also emphasized on training of audit personnel to be able to cope up with the challenges of fraudulent activities using the latest and digital technologies. The CAG, here, took the privilege to respond to the honorable President and brought his kind attention to the proactive role of the audit department on how it is ensuring value for money to the whole economy by saving and through recovering public money employing minimal of audit personnel and cost of a huge budget size each year through audit activities. However, prior to submission of these reports to the honorable President the CAG sought the appraisal of the honorable Prime Minister on these audit and accounts reports on 13 July 2019. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on that occasion besides her appreciation of the CAG’s activities also urged upon to the CAG for emitting his best in ensuring accountability and transparency in public expenditure. During the visit to the honorable president this year nine special audit reports, twenty five annual audit reports, one finance accounts and four appropriation accounts were submitted to the honorable President. A total of 434 audit observations amounting Taka 11,710.56 crore against 21 ministries were included in those audit reports. Military secretary to the honorable President along with the secretary to the honorable President and press secretary to the honorable President were also present on this submission of audit reports while from the audit authority Deputy CAG (A&R) Mr. Md. Mahbubul Hoque and Additional Deputy CAG (Parliament) Mr. A K M Hasibur Rahman were accompanying the CAG.
